Before you do that, here’s a quick refresher on how our various bag decoration methods work and how they differ from each other.
Screenprinting is our most commonly used method of decoration. Manufacturers use a mesh screen and a squeegee to transfer ink onto the material of promotional product and the finished result is a precise, solid color imprint that looks best on smooth surfaces. This can be done either by hand or with a machine.
Because screen printing is such a common and fairly simple decoration method, it is usually the most cost-effective for basic one or two color imprints as well. However, if you decide you’d like an intricate, full-color imprint on your custom bags, other methods, such as embroidery or heat transfer, can be a better value. Screen printing is priced per color and per location, whereas embroidery and heat transfer are priced very differently.
Embroidery is stitched into the fabric of custom bags and various apparel products with a needle and thread. Many modern embroidery machines can stitch multiple thread colors at once and the result is a very intricately detailed and extremely long lasting decoration.
Since embroidery is much more complex and slightly more expensive than screen printing, it is usually reserved for high-quality products made from durable materials, like scarves, jackets, dress shirts, sweaters and polo shirts. Embroidery also looks great, however, on tote bags, briefs or business cases, and accessory bags of all kinds.
Embroidery is priced per the number of stitches needed to recreate any particular logo or decoration. At Promotions Now, each product has a recommended number of stitches that is included in the listed price. An account representative will determine the stitch count for you when you call to inquire about embroidery.
Another long lasting, multi-colored imprinting method is heat transfer. It is exactly what it sounds like, a colorful decoration that is applied to a material using extreme heat, and the result is extremely vibrant, sharp and detailed. This method works best on synthetic fabrics and blends, like polyester and poly/cotton.
Depending upon availability and the intricacy of your logo or imprint, one of our team members may suggest a heat transfer over screen printing. If this is the decoration method you prefer for your custom bags, simply let your dedicated representative know over the phone and he is she will walk you through the process.
